Trying a Medical Probiotic for Autism

TJ tried Neuralli MP, which provides nutritional support for gut-microbiome to brain communication for Autistic people

By Tiffany “TJ” Joseph*

Being an Autistic person doesn't just come with neurological differences. Oftentimes, people with autism also have a host of other issues. Specifically GI, sensory, energy, thinking, and sleep problems, all of which are pretty common in Autistic people.

I have been taking two Neuralli MP capsules daily for over four weeks now. I also took it two years ago for three months. Because of that, I can easily compare how I feel with and without it.

If I take a look at my body before and after Neuralli MP, I can verify that it has helped my gastrointestinal issues, brain function, energy level, sleep, and sensory challenges. I am more regular, think clearer, am less fatigued, and more refreshed from sleep than I have been the previous four weeks.*

Neuralli MP and My Gastrointestinal Issues

As with many Autistic people, I have always had trouble with my gastrointestinal system. And to be honest, right before I started Neuralli MP, I wasn’t feeling my best at all. I was constantly going back and forth between loose stools and constipation. My stomach always hurt when I pressed on it, and I was full of gas.

So far, after four weeks of daily Neuralli MP, I am using the bathroom much more regularly. I am no longer oscillating constantly between being constipated and having uncomfortable, loose stools. Before taking Neuralli MP, I also always had pain when exerting any amount, even a small amount of pressure on my belly. I am not sure if that was because of constant gas or some other achy problem.

A lot of people expect a probiotic to help with bad gut health. That’s because introducing good bacteria into the gut microbiome could potentially shift the balance of beneficial and bad gut bacteria in your favor. But I had expectations for Neuralli MP to do more than that because it works on the gut-brain axis.

Differences in My Brain Function

As far as how Neuralli MP has impacted my brain function, I feel it has helped me think clearer and speak better. I am not having as many issues with word-finding as I was before. It’s like my brain wasn’t as open before. It was a little foggy previously.

But now, I am thinking clearly and remembering things a little better. It’s like I can focus on what I need to do instead of moving around but getting nothing done. I am remembering to do what’s on my list and actually able to get it done.

For example, I had been putting off making three or four calls. But a few days ago, I just looked at my list, called all the places, made the appointments, put them in my calendar, and finished in less than 20 minutes.

Before, I didn’t feel “strong” enough to get all of that done. It doesn’t seem like a lot to make phone calls, set appointments, and remember to put things in a calendar, but for me it definitely was. Now I can concentrate and focus on whatever I’m spending my time doing at that moment.*

Previously, I would flitter about while trying to write, help my kids, run errands, and do chores. But my brain could never really take any of those tasks and do one at a time. Since Neuralli MP, that has been much better. I am happy that I am actually getting things done and know I can in the future.

How Neuralli MP Affects My Energy Levels

One of the major issues I had before taking Neuralli MP was that I was either too low or too high in energy. I never had a relaxing type of calm energy that was neither tired or fatigued, nor frantic and frenzied at the same time.

I am a little bit calmer and more chill. Not sleepy and not too tired to function like I always was in the past. Overall, I would say my energy level has remained stable in the past few weeks or so.

I like being able to rely on my body and its energy level to know what I can and can’t do and to plan in the future. Neuralli MP has made it easier for me to plan my day knowing I will likely have reliable energy while I am awake.

Neuralli MP’s Effect on My Sleep Quality

Speaking of being awake, that could also be because I have been getting more quality sleep than before. Before Neuralli MP, I was waking up often throughout the night. Lately, I have been asleep throughout the night for a change. Not only that, but I no longer feel groggy and sleepy in the morning.

That may be because I am actually sleeping through the night. I might also be less groggy because I am sleeping better too. I fall asleep with my Apple Watch tracking my sleep phases nightly and I can confirm that my sleep has indeed been more restful and I have hit deeper sleep than before. Because of that, I wake up feeling refreshed and like I got a good night’s sleep.

Neuralli MP and My Sensory Issues

Last but not least, sensory issues are a humongous part of my daily life. I experience sensory sensitivities as well as a lack of sensory stimulation at times. It’s a big problem in daily life, especially when it comes to sound sensitivity. The smallest little sound can startle me or put me in a bad mood for a long time.

Additionally, certain textures through touch or taste make me feel so bad that I want to run away and never experience anything similar again. I also am very sensitive to bright lights, outdoors and indoors alike.

While taking Neuralli MP, I am less controlled by the touches, textures, sounds, and lights of my sensory environment. Thank goodness, and it may be due to the better sleep too. It might also be due to the better feeling as I am getting more regular in my gastrointestinal tract too.

Either way, I feel better overall in my sensory system, quality and quantity of sleep, energy levels, thinking, and gastrointestinal system.
