Bened Life’s All-New Packaging: Easier on You & the Planet

At Bened Life, we always strive to listen to our customers – especially when it comes to ensuring a better experience with our products.

And we’ve been listening to your concerns:

  • My box is going to be on my doorstep for several hours -- will it be ok for that long?
  • I live pretty far away from Bened Life’s warehouse. Will my probiotics be okay during transit?
  • How do I dispose of the insulating liner and ice packs? Can I recycle them?
  • What is Bened Life doing to reduce their carbon footprint?

These are not questions we take lightly – especially when it comes to the environment. It’s crucial that you feel confident and comfortable with how we handle your order, from the moment you place it, to when you dispose of the packaging.

That’s why we’ve recently made some upgrades to make our packaging even better at protecting your probiotics, and better for the planet as well.

Here’s what makes our packaging more convenient, more effective, and more sustainable than ever before.

Keeping PS128 Cold

Enviro-ice and Climacell liners keep Neuralli cold when it's hot outside

Let’s be honest: cold weather is not what we’re worried about when it comes to shipping. In fact, the colder the better!

Hot weather, on the other hand, is a different story. Probiotics like PS128 are particularly sensitive because they are live microorganisms, and prolonged exposure to very high temperatures can cause damage to the delicate microbial cells. Keeping heat out so your ice packs stay cold as long as possible helps maintain the effectiveness of your products.

At Bened Life, we’ve gone the extra mile to find a sustainable insulation solution that provides year-round protection from heat while maintaining affordability. ClimaCell lining is the leading alternative to styrofoam, proven to meet thermal performance requirements in ISTA® certified labs. In other words, our packaging is a tried-and-true way to protect your investment on even the hottest days.

ClimaCell is also highly water-repellent to keep water out and works to absorb any excess condensation inside the box. In other words: no wet bottles!

Sustainability

The importance of sustainable packaging cannot be overstated in today's world, where environmental concerns are more pressing than ever before. But we all know by now that living sustainably is easier said than done. So many products claim to be easy to recycle, only for that to not be the case. When you think about sustainable packaging, what does that look like to you? Is “easy” on the top of your list?

Because it is for us!

Our Climacell liners are made with a fully recyclable alternative to polystyrene. Their foam is 90% cornstarch and can be recycled with cardboard.

ClimaCell's starch foam peanuts and paper packaging are completely non-toxic and free of any harmful materials that could irritate the skin.

Out of an abundance of caution, we want to point out that those with a specific allergy to corn should avoid contact with the foam peanuts inside the panel. The good news is that ClimaCell is designed to be recycled without the need to separate the outer paper from the inner peanuts. Simply recycle the liners as they were received in the shipping box, sorted alongside corrugated cardboard.

Both this lining and the cardboard box are easy to recycle at home: simply place the liner panels in your recycling bin with the box, and it’s an immediate win for the planet. And since that shipping box is made from 100% post-consumer material, you’re helping it complete the loop again.

Our dedication to sustainability also extends to how our packages reach your doorstep. We are adding more warehouse locations to not only reduce overall delivery time to you, but also to reduce the overall carbon impact of your shipment. Better for you and the environment!

Ice Packs You Don’t Have to Throw Away

Our new ice packs are unlike any ice packs you may have used before. They keep just as cold as the ice packs we’ve been using, but once they’ve done their job, you have safe options that keep them out of your local landfill.

We use Enviro Ice 0°C refrigerant gel, which was designed with a second life in mind: Not only is the exterior #4 LDPE plastic potentially recyclable at your neighborhood grocery store, but the refrigerant gel can either be safely poured down the drain, or used as a plant food when diluted with water.

For indoor plants, mix ¾ cup (170g) Enviro Ice per gallon of water, and feed every two weeks. For outdoor flowers and vegetables, mix 2 cups (480g) of Enviro Ice with one gallon of water in a watering can. Feed your plants every 7-14 days during the growing season.

But for those who want an even easier experience, you can try simply pouring the gel straight onto the soil. If you happen to over-fertilize, don't worry! Follow these steps to fix the issue:

  • Remove a thin top layer of soil.
  • Cover the remaining soil with distilled water.
  • Let it drain and repeat the process 4 times.

Bonus tip: You can also reuse the Enviro Ice gel packs! Simply rinse off the outside and freeze them for later use in lunchboxes or ice chests.

The best thing about our ice packs is that they make sustainability easy and flexible; if you have a plant that’s in need of a feeding, great! If not, don’t sweat it. Once thawed, our ice packs can be cut open and emptied into the sink, bathtub, or toilet, reducing the weight of your trash cart and lowering your personal carbon footprint.

The Wrap-Up

Our new packaging is a win for everyone! Not only does it keep PS128 cold and fresh, but it also reduces its environmental impact – without any time-consuming disposal. We hope you will be just as satisfied with this new packaging as we are, especially once you experience its durability and convenience.
